Contrary To His Debate Claim, Biden’s Own Website Says He Supports The Green New Deal
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden lied about his support for the socialist Green New Deal Tuesday while attempting to evade questions over its unsurmountable cost.
“The Green New Deal is 100 trillion dollars,” President Donald Trump challenged during the first presidential debate.
“That’s not my plan,” Biden quipped.
After a brief back-and-forth, Biden again denied his platform endorses the radical Green New Deal.
“Do you support the Green New Deal?” debate moderator and Fox News host Chris Wallace asked, point blank.
“No, I don’t support the Green New Deal,” Biden said.
“Oh you don’t! Oh well that’s a big statement. That means you just lost the radical left,” Trump chimed in.
“I support the Biden plan that I put forward,” Biden asserted repeatedly.
A quick search on Biden’s campaign website however, proves otherwise.
“Biden believes the Green New Deal is a crucial framework for meeting the climate challenges we face,” the campaign website reads.
Biden’s own running mate, California Sen. Kamala Harris, who possessess the second most liberal voting record in the upper chamber according to Govtrack, was an original co-sponsor of the Green New Deal.
The discussion on climate change was opened with questions about the raging forest fires engulfing the western U.S. this summer in one of the most devastating years on record post-European settlement. Trump correctly blamed the destruction from the deadly infernos on decades of bad forest management.
